Learn Contact Improvisation

An exploration into learning fundamental techniques of contact improvisation. 29 June | 10am - 1pm 196 Victoria, Woodstock R300 This is an introductory workshop into contact improvisation. We will learn ways to move and dance with other bodies, expanding into the non-verbal conversation of your dance with others. Through deep listening and responding to the impulses and queues of movement in the present moment, a dialogue of dance emerges. We will be working with foundational contact improv skills - exploring sharing of weight, gravity, momentum and the creative impulse of the moment - in contact and communication with other bodies, opening the possibility of new movement pathways and play. The class will end with a mini jam to weave together the practices learned through the session. All levels welcome, no prior experience needed.
